Our journey 

The River in Troup began several years ago when Pastor Andre and Diana Kriel led a growing church until the covid epidemic hit in 2020. Church attendance began to drop due to the uncertainty of the epidemic. The church was later used for bible study classes, and various other purposes but has remained inactive as a church until God was ready to breathe new life into His church, 

The journey continues

Nettie and Pat Patterson were members of a local church in Bullard, Texas for 14 years where Nettie led the Praise & Worship, and Pat was an Elder Pastor. In 2025 they joined Diana and Andre in a Bible Study called Intentional Faith. It was during this time that God began to stir in all their lives with something possibly looming on the horizon. In January 2026, God called Nettie & Pat to step out in faith because He had a new place for them to serve.  They shared their vision that God had given them to come alongside the Kriel's to bring new life and revitalize that little community church in downtown Troup, Texas.

The vision for The River in Troup is to be a home style community church where everyone is welcome. We especially embrace those who feel unseen, unheard, or have been wounded by a past church experience, offering a place of healing and belonging. guided by the Holy Spirit, and God's Word. Not your typical church setting of today, but one reflecting what the first church in the Book of Acts may have looked like.
